Slough Weekend School (SWS)

Our goal is to provide young people opportunities to participate in structured learning programmes, which will enhance educational achievement. We have been successfully running supplementary classes for children since 2004. The project initially started as a mid-week homework club for around 25 children, moving in March 2006 to a Saturday morning supplementary school due to demand. In 2014 we set up 2 major initiatives to improve educational standards of our children:

  • Subsidised 11 Plus classes on Sunday mornings with the aim of getting more children from disadvantaged communities into Grammar schools and then in to good universities
  • Set up Sunday morning homework club

SWS is based at Langley Academy, Langley Road, Currently around 160 regularly attend Weekend School. School timings are as follows:

Curriculum:

We offer the children an exciting mix of education and fun creative activities.

The major components of the curriculum are:

  • Support in Mathematics, English
  • Good citizenship: How to live in a diverse/multi-cultural society, with emphasis on respect for parents, individuals, community, school & environment.
  • Creative Corner: Monthly arts & crafts/sports activities to help develop leadership, team working and communication skills. This includes sports, calligraphy, trips, plays, quizzes & various team building activities.
  • 11 Plus: Guidance & support
  • Homework support: bring in your homework and we will help you
