Football in the Community Programme

Footballers-Vibrant

As part of Sport-ED’s “Football in the Community” project, we have a fully functioning football club that has been running since 2009, catering for 100+ boys & young adults. We provide low cost football coaching to youths from across Slough with six teams (U16s, U15s, U14s, & U13s + 16+) playing in the Thames Valley Football Development & East Berkshire Leagues.

Structured training takes place on Saturdays at Lascelles Park during the summer. In the winter months we use the Power League’s or Wexham School astro turf facilities.

League matches are held on Sundays at the home ground in Kidderminster Park and at various away locations around Slough.

Targets for our “Football in the Community” are:

  • Get children from all over Slough physically active by participating in a structured sporting activities
  • Improve community cohesion by getting children from different cultures/backgrounds to come together and unite through sport
  • Help improve young people’s fitness
  • Drop in anti-social behaviour
  • Instil achievement & ambition amongst the youth to develop into the best they can be
  • Train additional volunteers as football coaches (three volunteers have already been trained and have achieved FA level 1 & one has achieved level 3)
